The Chattooga County 4-H office would like to remind 4-H camper parents that pick-up will be from 12:30-1:30 at the Chattooga High School parking lot.

Please check your child out with 4-H leaders so that everyone is accounted for. The 4-H leaders would also like to thank you for allowing your child to experience camp at Rock Eagle!

A couple's intense argument brought Chattooga County officers to North Elizabeth Street on Wednesday, June 11th.

Mr. William Bryant and Ms. Tammy Stricklin were arguing profusely when officers reached Mr. Bryant's home. After no answers to the front door, the officers heard arguing and glass shattering from the back yard. Officers found the two, separated them, and asked what the problem was.

Ms. Stricklin told officers that the argument was over her not wishing to have relations with Mr. Bryant, and that he had thrown a tool into a light and shattered it. Mr. Bryant said they had argued and she threw a tool into the light.

 Both offenders had a strong smell of alcohol about them. 

Both Ms. Stricklin and Mr. Bryant were placed under arrest for disorderly conduct and transported to the Chattooga County Jail. 

On Saturday, June 7th, Chattooga County deputies were called to Tennessee Avenue in reference to a domestic dispute. One man told officers that he and a married man had been having an affair. 

The married man had come to his house and began yelling and arguing inside his home. The married man began to hit the glass on the front door with his shoulder, causing it to shatter. The victim told officers that the married man had a gun and was threatening to kill him.

The victim gave officers information about the married man, but did not wish to press charges. 

One man was desperate to keep his girlfriend close by and took desperate measures in his attempts.

Mr. Montie Lee Turner had been intoxicated while arguing with his girlfriend late Saturday, June 7th. Early morning June 8th, Chattooga County deputies arrived to the scene where Mr. Turner had jumped on top of his girlfriend's vehicle and tried to remove a spark plug to keep her from driving away. Deputies were told that Mr. Turner suspected his girlfriend of cheating on him after she had tried to leave for work early.

Mr. Turner admitted to officers that he had been drinking tequila and several times said that he was drunk. Mr. Turner appeared very emotional and apologetic for his actions on scene. Mr. Turner's girlfriend returned to the scene while officers were still investigating, and told officers that he had bitten her arm and punched her eye in his rage. Mr. Turner admitted to the biting and said it was only because he was being choked at the time.

Mr. Turner was placed into custody for Battery under the Family Violence Act and taken to the Chattooga County Jail. 

A young man was walking down the middle of Highway 114 and yelling at drivers passing by on Saturday, June 7th. Mr. Dillion Smith was found without one shoe by Chattooga County officers. Mr. Smith told officers that he was heading home from a friend's house.

One officer smelled alcohol on Mr. Smith's breath and asked if he had been drinking; Mr. Smith admitted to having two shots of liquor before leaving his friend's house. Mr. Smith tested positive for alcohol and was arrested for Pedestrian Under the Influence of Alcohol and Underage Consumption of Alcohol. 

A couple's thievery brought Chattooga County deputies to the Trion Walmart on Highway 27 this past Friday, June 6th.

Melissa Barnett and Greg Williamson placed several items into Ms. Barnett's purse as they shopped through the store, purchased a few items through the self checkout line, but never payed for the items in the handbag.

The couple took approximately $52 worth of various items.

 The two were taken to the Chattooga County Jail for theft by shoplifting.
