Mrs. Brooksie Nell Purcell Vines, age 87, of Trion, Georgia died on May 9,2014. 
 
Survived by son, Carlton and wife, Amber Vines; sister, Sandra Purcell Sprayberry, and several Nieces and Nephews. She was a member of the Trion First Presbyterian Church (inactive) and a Peace Corps Volunteer. At Her request, she was cremated and a private service will be held a later date.

Town of Trion Testing Siren

 The Town of Trion experienced some issues with their severe weather siren when they tested it on Wednesday, they have continued testing today and will be testing tomorrow. The Town of Trion apologizes for the inconvenience and would like to advise everyone that it is just a test and not an actual emergency

Mr. Kenneth Wayne Rainey Obit (M)

Mr. Kenneth Wayne “Kenny” Rainey, age 66, of Summerville, GA died Saturday,

May 3, 2014, at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Rainey was born September 21, 1947, in Chattanooga, TN, the son of the late Robert William Rainey and Margaret Womac Rainey White.  He was employed with Wal-Mart of Trion.  He was formerly employed with Worldwide Volvo and Mt . Vernon Mills. Mr. Rainey was a veteran of the United States Air Force. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a step-mother, Barbara Rainey; a step-father, James White; and a brother, James E. White, III.  Kenny was loved by all who knew him.

Mr. Rainey is survived by his wife, Susan Gail Rainey; daughter, Sharon Rainey; sons, Clint Rainey and Steve Rainey; brother, Richard Lee White; sister, Lisa Marie Burgess; grandchildren, Justus Rainey, Jordan Rainey, Randall Rainey, Robert Rainey, Ricky Rainey, Ryan Rainey, Annabelle Rainey, and Austin Keen; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside and interment services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at Lee Cemetery in McDonald , TN.  Pallbearers will be Randall Rainey, Robert, Rainey, Ricky Rainey, Ryan Rainey, Austin Keen, and Shannon Keen.

Mr. Rainey will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p. m. Tuesday, May 6, 2014.

Local Restaurant Closing to Replace Equipment

Jim's Family Restaurant in Summerville announced they will be closed next week while replacing equipment. They plan to close on Sunday, May 11th at 3PM and re-open Friday, May 16th at 6:30 AM

Mr. Cecil Wigley Obit (R)

Mr. Cecil Wigley, age 70 of Lyerly, GA died Thursday, May 1, 2014 at Redmond Regional Medical Center. Preceded in death are his parents, Walter and Daisy Wigley, two brothers, Odell Smith and James Wigley, and one sister, Florene Murphy.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Alice Wigley of Lyerly, son, Steven Joe Wigley of Lyerly, brothers, Floyd Smith of Eton, and Londell (Phyllis) Wigley of Resaca, sisters, Pauline Wilbanks of Murphreesboro, TN and Blondell Williamson of Ider, AL, special friends, Kathy and Jimmy Mann of Lyerly and Caddy Calloway of Gaylesville, AL.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 04, 2014 at 2PM from Rainsville Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Smith officiating. Burial will follow in New Canaan Cemetery. Visitation is Sunday from 10AM to 2PM.

Mr. Tollie Fay Hurley Obit (ER)

MR. TOLLIE FAY HURLEY, prominent Summerville, Georgia businessman and chairman of Southeast First National Bank passed away Saturday, April 26, 2014. 
Mr. Hurley was born February 21, 1934 in Summerville, Georgia to the late Tollie Ross Hurley and Anna Elsberry Hurley. He was a 1953 graduate of Summerville High School where he served as captain of the Summerville High football team that broke a 13 year losing streak to Trion High. Mr. Hurley was in the grocery business of 44 years, owning stores, with his father and brother, in Summerville, Trion, and Fort Payne, Al. He served as Chairman and CEO of Hurley Food, Inc., served on the board of directors of Dixie Savings Stores, Inc. of Chattanooga, TN., a founding board member, in 1967, of First National Bank; also served as chairman of the board of the bank and chairman of the board of Summerville/Trion Bancshares, Inc. Mr. Hurley was a past member of Summerville/Trion Rotary Club and the City of Summerville Industrial Development Board. He also served on the board of Bank of Adairsvile, Inc., the People’s Bank of Crawfordville, GA., Adairsville Bancshares, Inc. and was one of three investors who purchased Bank of Lowes in Lowes, KY. and moved it to Rome, GA. under the name of Heritage First Bank. 
Surviving are His wife, of 61 years, Linda Sue Woods Hurley; daughter and son-in-law- Suzanne Hurley Bowman and Timothy E. Bowman; sons and daughter-in-law, Edward F. Hurley, William B. Hurley and Jamie Keeling Hurley; brother and sister-in-law Benjamin Gene Hurleyand Marceline Mobbs Hurley ; and ten grandchildren-Alexandria Dawes Hurley, Katherine Cutler Hurley, Madeline Grace Hurley, William Evan Bowman, Haley Bowman Barbaro, Jennifer Bowman Rogers, Kelsey Bowman Wiggins, Jacob E. Bowman, Kendall Keeling, and Kaitlyn Keeling.
Visitation will be Thursday, May 1st, at Earle Rainwater Funeral Home, in Summerville, GA., at 2 PM with the funeral service to follow at 4 PM; interment will follow, for the Family, at the Summerville Cemetery.
