Mohawk Makes Fortune 500 List Again

Fortune Magazine  is out with its annual Fortune 500 issue and Calhoun-based Mohawk Industries once again made the list. It is the only Northwest Georgia based company to do so this year.

The prestigious collection of America’s leading companies bases its rankings on revenues and profits. Mohawk ranks number 442 in the Fortune 500 this year, close to the 432 they ranked last year.

The number 1 company in the Fortune 500 for 2013 is Wal-Mart, followed by three oil companies; ExxonMobil, Chevron and Phillips 66. Rounding out the top five is Berkshire Hathaway, the company which purchased Shaw Industries little over a decade ago.

Georgia is home to four companies that made this year’s Fortune 100, all of which are headquartered in Atlanta. The list includes Home Depot, UPS, Coca-Cola and Delta.
