A 23-year-old man is facing charges after fleeing from Chattooga County Sheriff's Deputies last week.
According to the report, officers were dispatched to a Hammond Street, Trion address. Once there, the complainant told them that Christopher Wade came to her home and was trying to get her cell phone away from her. She said she kicked him trying to get him to stop and get away from her.
Wade reportedly left the home, then re-entered and allegedly struck her several times on the had and left again. He reportedly re-entered the home again, removed her shoes because he said he had bought them, and then reportedly threw them at her and left again.
Officers found Wade off McCollum Street in Trion a little later. When Wade saw patrol vehicles he reportedly took off running into the woods. Deputies report they followed Wade into the woods and ordered him to shop which he did not. Officers requested dogs be sent out to the location to help find Wade.
The report does not indicate that Wade was found but states that he is wanted for disorderly conduct and obstruction of officers. The May 1 arrest report lists a Christopher Wade being charged with a probation violation.
Chattooga County Sheriff's Deputies have reportedly taken out a warrant on a Summerville man for allegedly shoplifting at Walmart last week.
According to the report, Walmart 's Loss Prevention Officer said Johnny Hines shoplifted from the store and fled towards Highway 27 on a bicycle. Officers found Hines on his bicycle and asked him to stop, but Hines reportedly fled into the woods. A search ensued but Hines was not located, according to the report.
Hines is alleged to have taken a baby monitor valued at $140. Surveillance camera reportedly recorded Hines stuffing the monitor down the front of his pants and exiting the store. The report states that Hines has been banned from Walmart due to several shoplifting incidents and Hines reportedly signed an agreement with Walmart to that effect. The report states that a warrant was taken out on Hines in regard to the incident.
The Georgia State Patrol will host a children's car safety seat check on May 16 at the Chattooga County Health Department.
The purpose of the event is to make sure the car seats are not expired and are in good working order; are right for the vehicle they are being used in; and are installed in the vehicle properly.
The event starts at 11 a.m. and will continue until around 1 p.m. or until people stop coming.
Georgia State Trooper Jamie Mitchell reminds us that car safety seats are good for only six years after the manufacturer's date.
A Chattooga County man reported that two firearms were stolen from his unlocked truck while it was parked behind his home last week.
According to the report, Thomas Adams of a Haywood Valley Road address, said the two guns, a Colt 1811 Mark IV Model 80 Stainless Steel, and a Taurus 380, were taken from the front seat of his truck. He said the truck had been parked behind his house, which is well off the road, but was unlocked during the night. The guns are valued at $1200. Nothing else was reported missing.
A Summerville grandmother reported last week that a man in the parking lot at Walmart tried to entice her grandsons for indecent purposes.
According to the report, one of the boys said that a while male with sunglasses, wearing a yellow shirt, driving a black Chevrolet four-door truck, showed him a bag of beef jerky and motioned for him to come to his truck.
A Be On the Lookout for the vehicle was posted and officers were able to review the Walmart video concerning the Incident. The situation was turned over to investigators.
Rome authorities say they arrested a Summerville man during a traffic stop after he was found with drugs.
Danny Dennis Pair, 46, of 733 Unity Church Road, faces charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of a firearm during certain crimes, possession of drug-related objects, speeding and a tail light violation, Floyd County Jail reports state.
According to records, an officer stopped Pair about 10:20 p.m. Monday on Martha Berry Highway, just north of Mount Berry Square. An officer clocked Pair doing 73 mph in a 55-mph zone. Pair also was missing his left tail light, reports state.
Officers searched Pair’s vehicle and found suspected meth, a glass pipe and a loaded Ruger .38-caliber gun, records state.
