Mrs. Diane Wilson Burrage obit EP

Mrs. Diane Wilson Burrage, age 58 of Greeson Street, Summerville, GA passed away Sunday, November 20, 2011 at  Cartersville Medical Center, Cartersville, GA.  Mrs. Burrage was born November 13, 1953 in Summerville, GA.  She was a housewife and Baptist by faith. 

   Mrs. Burrage was preceded in death by father, Bill Ralph Wilson and mother, Elva Taylor Wilson; brother, Jimmy Wilson; and sister. Edna Faye Sequoah.

   Mrs. Burrage is survived by husband, David Lee Burrage of Summerville, GA; sons and daughters-in-law, Jeremy and Tracy Burrage of Guntersville, AL and Fabian Ray and Kristy Burrage of Dogtown, AL; sister, Gloria Jean Hilton of Alabama and brother, Billy Ray Wilson of Texas; 7 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.

   Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at 2PM  from the chapel of the Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Wilborn officiating.  Interment will be in Greenhills Memory Gardens.   Mrs. Burrage will lie-in-state Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at the Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

Mr. Robert Earl Watkins obit (M)

Mr. Robert Earl Watkins, age 58, of Summerville, GA passed away Saturday,
November 12, 2011 at his residence.
Mr. Watkins was born August 22, 1953 in Menlo, GA, son of the late Betty
Miller and Arthur Watkins. He was employed as a Security Officer.
Mr. Watkins is survived by his sons, Eric Watkins, Kurtis Chadwick
Watkins; a daughter, Hillary Watkins Ledbetter; brothers, Ronnie Watkins,
Billy Ray Watkins, and Andrew Watkins; a sister, Carolyn Autry; and seven
grandchildren.
Funeral Services for Mr. Watkins will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, November
15, 2011 from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jerry Rutledge
officiating. Interment will follow in Macedonia Cemetery. Pallbearers will be
Jeffery Hill, Jonathan Marks, Glenn Trapp, Andy Tidmore, Bryant Tidmore,
and Robert Tidmore.

Mr. Larry Eugene Caldwell obit (M)

 

Mr. Larry Eugene “Luther” Caldwell, age 59, of Summerville, passed away Friday, November 11, 2011 at The Specialty Hospital in Rome, GA.
Mr. Caldwell was born in LaFayette, Georgia on June 8, 1952, son of Clarice Bennett Caldwell and the late Harvey Caldwell. He was a member of the Oak Hill Missionary Baptist Church, was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the United States Army and was employed with Georgia Power. In addition to his father, Mr. Caldwell was preceded in death by a son, Joe Clark.
Mr. Caldwell is survived by his wife, Karen Dillard Caldwell; sons, Kenny King, Timmy Caldwell, and Joseph Caldwell; daughters, Amanda Coley, Amy Caldwell, and Carrie Payton; brothers, Billy Caldwell and Jimmy Caldwell; sisters, Lynn Cagle and Annette Nicholson; 22 Grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Military Graveside Rites for Mr. Caldwell will be held Sunday, November 13, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. in the Summerville Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Alex Brown, Bobby Brown, Stanley Grey, Tommy Dillard, John Bell, Casey Robinson, and Charles Lynn Cagle.
Mr. Caldwell will be in state at the Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6 until 8 P.M.

Mrs. Mary Sue Snyder obit (M)

Mrs. Mary Sue Snyder, age 78, of Summerville, GA died Thursday, November 10, 2011 at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Snyder was born November 29, 1932 in Trion, GA, the daughter of the late Rufus and Ida Stowe Grimes. Mrs. Snyder was a member of Pennville First Baptist Church. She was a retired dental hygienist, having worked for Dr. Davidson, Dr’s Christenberry & Cromartie, Dr. Mason, and Dr. Ware over a period of 40 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Snyder; and a special brother, Morris “Bud” Grimes, and 14 other brothers and sisters.

Survivors include a son, David Snyder, Trion, GA; daughters and husbands, Beverly & David Talley, Calhoun, GA and Wendy and Chris Proctor, Rome, GA; sister, Frances Clementine Hayes; grandchildren, Kirsty Talley, Marci and husband, Bryan Banks, Brett and wife, Brianne White, Jennifer and husband, Chris Davenport, and Alyson Proctor; great grandchildren, Bryson Talley, McKenzie Talley, Eli White, Ansley Davenport, Logan Davenport, and Kaden Banks; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Saturday, November 12, 2011 at Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Billy Dempsey officiating. Burial will follow in West Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brett White, Chris Davenport, Justin Whelchel, Bryan Banks, Howard Shelton, and Danny Spraggins.

Mrs. Thelma Olivia Allgood, age 90, of Summerville, GA died Thursday, November 3, 2011 at her residence.

Mrs. Allgood was born August 21, 1921 in Holland, GA, the daughter of the late John and Viola Myles Adams. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Allgood’s love was gardening and raising flowers. She proudly cared for her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She was an inspiration to others in guidance of life lessons. Other than her parents, Mrs. Allgood was preceded in death by her first husband, Grady E. Loveless, and her second husband, Albert Allgood; sons, James Loveless and Larry Loveless; daughter,

Mr. Romie Bowman obit (M)

Mr. Romie Bowman, age 83, of Menlo, GA, died Friday, October 14, 2011 at Floyd
Medical Center.
Mr. Bowman was born January 5, 1928 in Centre, AL, son of the late John Jackson
and Fannie Frances Stansell Bowman. He was a member and Ruling Elder of the
Menlo Presbyterian Church and served on the Board of Trustees for Alpine Cemetery.
Mr. Bowman was retired from Riegel where he worked in the Maintenance
Department. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Onell Bowman.
Mr. Bowman is survived by his stepson, Allen Pickle; sisters, Ethel Bowman and
Joyce Plunkett; several nieces and nephews; and several great nieces and great
nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 17, 2011 in the
Menlo Presbyterian Church with Minister Thomas Broome officiating. Burial will
follow in West Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Yogi Hegwood, Henry Covington,
Dewayne Chamlee, Greg Plunkett, Scott Treadaway, and Jeff Phillips. Honorary

Mr. Kenneth Whitfield obit (E)

 Mr. Kenneth Whitfield, age 70 of Cedar Glen Circle, Chattanooga, TN, passed away Thursday, October 13, 2011 in the Hospice of Chattanooga.  He was born in Trion, GA on July 13, 1941.  Mr. Whitfield was a member of the Trion United Methodist Church.  He was a graduate of Trion High School Class of 1957 and also played on the 1957 Trion High School State Champion Football Team, graduated from Shorter College, and enjoyed being a Civil War Re-enactor.  He was retired from Roadway Express.
   Mr. Whitfield was preceded in death by a son, Hugh Whitfield; and father and mother, Corbin and Marjorie Whitfield.
   Mr. Whitfield is survived by his wife, Brenda Brimer Whitfield of Chattanooga, TN; sons and daughter-in-law, Clay and Heather Whitfield of Soddy Daisy, TN and Ben Whitfield of Chattanooga, TN; and daughter, Melody Whitfield of  Ringgold, GA.  He was a loving grandfather to Rebekah, Hannah, and Faith; brother, Jimmy Whitfield; and a niece,
   Memorial services will be held Sunday, October 16, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. from the graveside of the West Hill Cemetery with Rev. David Autrey officiating.  Interment will be in West Hill Cemetery.
   There will be no visitation and the family will meet at the graveside on the day of the service.

 

Mrs. Rosa Warren obit (M)

Mrs. Rosa Nell Warren, age 91, of Summerville, GA died Thursday, October 13, 2011
at Shepherd Hills Nursing Home.
Mrs. Warren was born November 5, 1919 in Berryton, GA, the daughter of the late
Walker and Lula Yeardy McGraw. She was a homemaker and member of the North
Summerville Baptist Church. Mrs. Warren was preceded in death by her husband,
Archie H. Warren; and 6 Brothers and 3 Sisters.
Survivors include her children, Mary Warren Stephens and Archie William Warren,
both of Summerville, GA; brother, Clyde McGraw, Rome, GA; grandchildren,
Chris Warren, Warren Douglas Stephens, and Jason Ethan Stephens; great grandchildren,
Sarah Kate Stephens and Shelley Warren.
Graveside and interment services will be held at 3:00 p. m. Sunday, October 16, 2011 at
Perennial Springs Cemetery with her nephew, Buddy McGraw officiating. Active
pallbearers will be Warren Stephens, Jason Stephens, Chris Warren, Harold Blalock,
and Adam James. Honorary pallbearers will be Ellen James, Kathy Boss, Andy Boss,
Amanda Bailey, and Kay Bennett.
