Seasonal flu shot clinic, Thursday, Dec. 10

The Chattooga Coounty Health Department will hold a seasonal flu shot clinic Thursday, December 10, at the health department, 60 Farrar Drive, Summerville, from 8:30am to 11am and from 1pm until 6pm.  Shots will be given on a walk-in basis as long as supply lasts.  Cost of the seasonal flu vaccine  is $20.00.  Cash, debit card, Medicare and state employees’ United or Cigna insurance will be accepted.  A limited amount of seasonal flu vaccine, provided by the VFC program, for Medicaid and PeachCare eligible children, is available.

"There’s a long flu season ahead," Chattooga County Health Department nurse Manager Smith said, "and while all the influenza we’re seeing right now is H1N1 or swine flu, we know that seasonal influenza is just around the corner, and the single best way to protect yourself and loved ones from seasonal flu is to get vaccinated against it."

Smith says the health department plans to offer the H1N1 swine flu vaccine at additional vaccination clinics and will announce details just as soon as possible.  For more information about H1N1 and seasonal influenza, call the healthdepartment at 706-857-3471.
