Mr. Billy Bob Kilgore, age 66 of Peach Street, Trion, GA, passed away Thursday, April 30, 2009, at his residence. Mr. Kilgore was born July 21, 1942 in Bartow County Georgia. He was retired from Mount Vernon Mills and was Baptist by faith. Mr. Kilgore was preceded in death by his father and mother, Woodrow and Nellie Bell Hunter Kilgore. Mr. Kilgore is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Tammy and Scott Sullins and Paulette and David Meadows of Trion, GA; son, Benjamin Kilgore of Trion, GA; sister and brother-in-law, Joann and Ray Eller of Texas; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jessie and Charlotte Kilgore of Rome, GA; Danny and Rachael Kilgore of Trion, GA; brothers, C.L. Kilgore of Cartersville, GA and Thomas Kilgore of Trion, GA; grandchildren, Shannon Trammell, Halley Sullins, Brandon Trammell and Megan Sullins; great-grandchild, Lexie Trammell. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, May 3, 2009, at 2:00pm from the chapel of the Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Wilborn officiating. Interment will follow in Spring Creek Cemetery. Mr. Kilgore will lie-in-state Saturday, May 2, 2009, at the Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8pm. The Chattooga County Library System is in process of developing a long range plan for future growth and development. The library system feels it is important for all community members who are concerned about library services to have a voice in planning for the future.

The Chattooga County Commissioner, Kathy V. Brown, reminds all mobile home owners that the 2009 Mobile Home Taxes must be paid by May 1, 2009, to avoid additional interest and penalties. Any mobile home, whether used for storagte, underpinned or not underpinned, tires on or off, tongue on or off, rented out, vacant or homesteaded, requires a yearly permit be purchased to show taxes are paid. On May 15, 16 and 17, you will be seeing pink as the world’s largest hot air balloon joins the Purple Eater and his friends at the Northwest Georgia Balloon Festival at Tillotson Field in Menlo, Georgia.
The Energizer Bunny in 166 feet tall – that is 15 feet taller than the Statue of Liberty. His shoe size is 98EEEEE; his head is 30 feet wide and 45 feet long; he weigns in at 1,170 pounds. The Hot "Hare" needs two pilots to fly him. He will be flying in Chattooga County on Friday evening, May 15, at 6pm and Saturday and Sunday at 6am and 6pm, weather permitting.
