Annie Ruth Martin, Obit (ER)

MRS. ANNIE RUTH MARTIN, age 91, of Highway 48, Summerville, Georgia, passed away Friday morning, December 26, 2025, at her residence. Native of Summerville, Georgia, She was born on April 10, 1934, a daughter of the late Woodrow and Maybelle Haggard Abernathy. Prior to retirement, she was a beautician for many years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, the late Billy Martin, Sr., son, the late Jack Warren, and daughter, the late Brenda Bearden; She was a member of the Alpine Community Church.

Surviving are son, Billy (Cindy) Martin, Jr.; sister, Pam Abernathy; grandsons, Todd, James, and Zach Bearden; granddaughters, Chris Ann Martin Davenport and Amy Martin (Cody) Crane; great grandsons, Jared Bearden, Raidyn and Reece Davenport, and Dawson Crane.

Graveside and interment service will be held Saturday at 1:00 P.M. in Summerville Cemetery with Rev. Jeremy Stroop officiating. Active Pallbearers James Bearden, Mike Martin, Jeff Martin, Todd Bearden, Jared Bearden, and Codey Crane; Honorary Pallbearers Raidyn and Reece Davenport.

Larry Russell “Meathead” Maddux, Sr., Obit (M)

Mr. Larry Russell “Meathead” Maddux, Sr., age 79, of Trion, GA, died Saturday, December 20, 2025, in Chattanooga, TN.

Larry was born August 15, 1946, in LaFayette, GA, son of the late J.C. and Olene Russell Maddux. He attended the Trion First Baptist Church, and prior to his retirement, was employed with Mount Vernon Mills. “Meathead” was a talented musician, teaching countless others how to play many instruments throughout his life. He was a member of the Trion Lodge # 160, F&AM.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Maddux was preceded in death by his brothers, Lynn Maddux and Mark Maddux; grandson, Austin Maddux; and a nephew, Jody Maddux.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Gerry Henderson Maddux; sons, Rusty Maddux and Derry (Amanda) Maddux; daughter, Keisha Maddux (Ben Latta); grandchildren, Russ Maddux, Olivia Maddux, Daven Maddux, Josie (Chandler) Pettyjohn, Lincoln Maddux (Kaylin Bishop), Toby Maddux, Maddux Colbert, Stetson Colbert, and Knox Latta; great-grandchildren, Kason Maddux, Hallee Pettyjohn, and Hazel Pettyjohn. He is also survived by special cousin, Bobbye Jo Davidson, many nieces and nephews, as well as an immeasurable amount of close, personal friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, December 27, 2025, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Casey Bramlett and Rev. Phil Minter officiating. Interment will follow in the Maddux Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Rusty Maddux, Derry Maddux, Lincoln Maddux, Toby Maddux, Maddux Colbert, Kason Maddux, and Ben Latta. Honorary pallbearers will be all Masonic brethren, Wilbur Rimes, Derry Martin, Ronnie Ray, Ronald Webb, Donald Webb, Jackie Thomas, Albert Palmour, Mark Schrader, Isaac McDonald, Michah Maddux, Wil Hyden, Larry Haney, Larry Stansell, and Scott Chase.

Mr. Maddux will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Friday, December 26, 2025.
