Mr. Jerry Wayne “Duke” Williams, age 76 of Trion, passed away Sunday, April 7, 2024 at his residence.
Mr. Williams was born in Cedartown, Georgia on October 2, 1947, son of the late Clifford Williams and Lenora Daphne Hickman Williams. He was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church and was retired from Mt. Vernon Mills where he worked as an auditor. Mr. Williams helped organize and was very active in the Trion Boy Scout Troop. He loved to play golf, fish and travel, especially to the beach. In addition to his parents, Mr. Williams was preceded in death by a great grandson, Easton Elijah Brown; sisters, Mary Rose Carter, Ruth Grimes, Opal Cox, and Bobbie Smith; and brothers, William Bowman, Gary Young and Jack Bowman.
Mr. Williams is survived by his wife, Pauline Williams; stepsons and daughters-in-law, Paul and Melissa Brown and Allen and Angie Brown; sisters, Kathy Newsome and Roxy Davis; grandchildren, Heather Maton Steele, Ryan Brown, Mercedes Brown, Brandon Brown, Shawn Brown, Jessica Brown, Kayla Hall and Kayla Helton; 18 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside and Interment Services for Mr. Williams will be held Friday, April 12, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. in the Green Hill Memory Gardens with Rev. Sanford DeBerry officiating.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Brown, Shawn Brown, John Henry Thomas, Dewayne Daggett, Richard Sumner and Ron DeBerry. Honorary Pallbearers will be the staff of Tapestry Hospice and friends from Jim’s Family Restaurant.

Mr. Michael Charles Mason, age 78, of Huntsville, AL passed away Friday April 5, 2024, in Huntsville, AL. He was born March 28, 1946, in Summerville, GA, the son of the late Charlie and Myrtle Tucker Mason. He was a member of the Mount Zion Baptist Church, retired from Bell South, a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in Vietnam and preceded death by son, Michael Dennis Mason, brother, Danny Mason.
Survivors include wife, Patricia Ann Wooten Mason, sons, Todd (Tracy) Mason, Brad (Heather) Mason, daughter-in-law, Julie Catzin, grandchildren, Addison Mason, Hunter Mason, Charlie Mason, Alyssa Mason, Aaron Mason, brother, Don (Rhonda) Mason, sisters, Doris Hall, Lois Thrift, Peggy (Larry) Overton, Wanda (John) Smith, Carol (Johnny) Slayton, and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. (EST) Monday April 8, 2024 from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Gary Harden officiating. Interment with be held 2:00 p.m.(EST) Tuesday April 9, 2024 from the Mount Zion Baptist Church Cemetery 228 Mt Zion Rd Huntsville, AL, with Dr. Kevin Moore officiating.
The Family will receive friends Monday, April 8, 2024 from 12:00 noon (EST) until the hour of service at Mason Funeral Home.

Mr. Billy Joe Simpson age 88 of Summerville, GA passed away Friday, April 5, 2024 at his residence.
Mr. Simpson was born May 5, 1935 in Rainsville, AL to the late Robert and Bula Talley Simpson. He was retired from Lyerly Rug Mill and was a Free Mason. He enjoyed spending time with his family, reading his Bible, and going to church.
Along with his parents Mr. Simpson is preceded in death by his son, Michael Simpson; and sister, Sharon Morgan.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Simpson; children, Timothy Simpson and Lisa Cordell; grandchildren, Kristy Morgan, Joe Morgan, and Christen Cordell; 5 great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mr. Simpson will take place at 1:00 Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at the chapel of Mason Funeral Home with Rev. David Dutton and Rev. Jake Morrison officiating. Interment with Masonic Rights will follow at West Hill Cemetery with Joe Morgan, Derek Willingham, Heath Noles, Chris Noles, Adam Hunt, Jeff Kirby, David Long, and Tommy Long serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Jaden Barnett, the Free Mason Chattooga Lodge #704, former co-workers from the Lyerly Rug Mill, and caregivers from Tapestry Hospice.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 – 1:00 Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Marlene B. Garner, age 89 of Trion, Georgia passed away Friday, April 5, 2024 at the Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Mrs. Garner was born in Summerville, Georgia on August 22, 1934, daughter of the late Gordon Bartlett and Izetta Mason Bartlett. She was the owner of Marlene’s Fabrics in Summerville and had been the manager of the Crate Ladies Apparel Store for over 20 years. She was of the Baptist Faith. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Garner was preceded in death by daughters, Lisa Jo Jarrell and Anggie Lee Chandler; a son, Phillip Wayne Garner; and two brothers, Dewayne Bartlett and Marshall Bartlett.
Mrs. Garner is survived by a sister, Glenia Hayes; brother and sister-in-law, James Lee and Brigette Bartlett; grandchildren, Rebecca Hall, Zach (Erin) Reynolds, Christy Chandler, Chandler Staton and Drew Casteel; two great grandchildren, Sawyer Reynolds and Cullen Hall; 6 nephews and 3 nieces.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Garner will be held Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at 12:00 Noon in the Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Minister L.D. Ludy officiating. Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Garner’s family will receive friends Tuesday morning from 11:00 A.M. until the funeral hour.
