Alice Mae Everett Cox, Obit (ER)

MRS. ALICE MAE EVERETT COX, age 84 of Summerville, Georgia, passed away Wednesday, October 22, 2025. Mrs. Cox was born on April 27, 1941 in Chattooga County, Georgia to the late Noel Everett and Coraine Touchstone Everett. She was of the Methodist faith and loved talking with people and never met a stranger. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, John William Cox; daughter, Jennifer Dianne Cox; brothers, Clinton Everett, John Everett, and Charlie Everett.

Survivors include her daughter, Mary John Cos Hendrix, (Shane Hendrix), and two grandchildren Ava Hendrix and John Hendrix.

Graveside and interment services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Alice Mae Cox will be held at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery on Saturday, October 25th at 3 p.m. with Rev. Wes Privett officiating. The family will receive friends at Earle Rainwater Funeral Home Saturday from 1:30 p.m. until the hour of her service. Active Pallbearers Shane Hendrix, John Hendrix, Tom Everett, Chuck Cox, Paul Jones, and Joseph McGinnis; Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Chattooga Senior Center. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Summerville First United Methodist Church at P.O. Box 187 Summerville, Georgia 30747 or the charity of your choice.

Charlotte Nicholson Persons, Obit (C)

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Charlotte Nicholson Persons, who left us peacefully on Saturday, October 18, 2025.

Charlotte was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. Her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love touched the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Charlotte was born on 07/10/1937 and grew up in Sylacauga, AL where she developed a deep love for crafting. She dedicated her life to her family and community, always putting others before herself. Her generosity knew no bounds, and her home was a sanctuary of love and laughter.

Charlotte was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Persons, her two daughters, Donna Henderson & Sharon Jordan and her great granddaughter Aiden Swindle. Their memories will forever remain in our hearts, and we find comfort in knowing they are now reunited.

She is survived by her son, Scott Persons/Janet who will forever cherish the memories of his mother’s gentle guidance and unconditional love. Her grandchildren, Taylor Henderson/Tyler, Heather Jordan, Matthew Persons/Marissa and Luke Persons/Asia, who will always remember their grandmother’s stories, hugs, and the special moments they shared. Her great grandchildren, Lynlee & Amelia Davis and Jordan Swindle will remember the joy they brought to Charlotte every time she was around them.

The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to Amanda Montgomery for her exceptional care, compassion, and unwavering support during Charlotte’s illness. Your dedication, patience, and kindness allowed Charlotte to live in her home peacefully through her final days. We are also deeply grateful to her husband, Michael, who was always willing to help in any way he could. Additionally, the family would like to thank Heyman Hospice and her team, Michelle Allie, Jeanette Cavin, Kim Higgins, Melissa Boone, and Jennifer Lawrence. A special thank you to all of Charlotte’s amazing, wonderful and caring neighbors. Charlotte Nicholson Persons will be deeply missed, but her love and light will remain in our hearts forever.

A celebration of Charlotte’s life will be held on Friday, October 24, 2025 at 6:00 P.M. in the Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Rev. David Autry officiating. Graveside and Interment services will be Saturday, October 25, 2025 at 12:00 Noon in Evergreen Cemetery in Sylacauga, Alabama.

The family will receive friends Friday afternoon from 4:00 P.M. until the funeral hour. The family will also receive friends Saturday at the Curtis and Son Funeral Home in Sylacauga, Al from 10:00 A.M. until the funeral hour.

Harlan General Spillman, Obit (B)

Mr. Harlan General Spillman, age 82 of Menlo, passed away on Sunday October 19th at Oakview Health & Rehab in Summerville.

Visitation will be from 4-9 pm on Thursday October 23rd at Burt Chapel in Fort Payne.

Funeral services will be on Friday October 24th at 2pm CST at Burt Chapel in Fort Payne.  Burial will be in Walker’s Chapel Cemetery in Fort Payne with military honors.

The family is accepting flowers.
