Mrs. Edith Louise McBurnett, age 89, of Summerville, Georgia passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2018, in a Rome hospital. She was born in Chatsworth, Georgia on August 14, 1928, a daughter of the late James Irving and Eliza Fisher Hensley. Mrs. McBurnett was a member of Church of God of Union Assembly.

Mr. Cody Hogue, age 29, of Dogwood Circle, Summerville, Georgia, passed away Monday, January 1, 2018, in a Rome hospital, following an extended illness.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Earle Rainwater Funeral Home.
Mrs. Zennia Day Eller Hester, age 88, of Gaylesville, AL, died Sunday, December 24, 2017, at her residence.
Mrs. Hester was born July 14, 1929, in Cherokee County AL, daughter of the late Dan and Ethel Eller. She had attended Chesterfield Baptist Church, and prior to her retirement, was employed with Best Manufacturing. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Wesley Hester; sister, Millie Rabun; and a brother, Bud Eller.
Mrs. Hester is survived by her daughters, Brooke Hester, Bree Hester, and Bridget Hester; a brother, Fred Eller; grandchildren, Braden Roan, Jordan Roan, John Roan, and Alana White.
Funeral services for Mrs. Hester will be held at 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 27, 2017, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens.
Mrs. Hester will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 2:00 P.M. until the hour of service on Wednesday.

Mr. Roy Clinton “Clint” McCary, Jr., age 60, of Summerville, GA, died Sunday, December 24, 2017, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Mr. McCary was born August 28, 1957, in Summerville, GA, son of the late Roy Clinton McCary, Sr. and Carolyn Yarbrough Morrow. He attended the Solid Rock Baptist Church and was employed with the Millwright Local Union 1263. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, R. D. Morrow; and his grandmother, Sarah Baker Yarbrough.
Mr. McCary is survived by his son, David McCary; daughters, Kelli (Casey) Veatch, Paige McCary Brock; brothers, Mike McCary, Jeff (Michelle) McCary; sisters, Lisa Morrow, Michelle McCary; and grandchildren, Ty, Abe, Emma, and Ella Veatch, Parker Hilgen, Maeleigh Wagner, and Sawyer McCary; and an aunt, Brenda Ward.
Funeral services for Mr. McCary will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, December 28, 2017, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Allen Young officiating. Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Smokey Howell, Gary Hardeman, Michael Chastain, Jim Warren, Matt Veitch, Bobby Strange, and Bobby Teems. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Millwright Local Union 1263.
Mr. McCary will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 27, 2017.

Mr. Sherman William Hicks, age 94 of Armuchee, GA passed away Tuesday- December 26, 2017 at Rome Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Mr. Hicks was born May 7, 1923 in Armuchee, GA, son of the late Grady L. and Burnice Rowan Hicks. He was a member of the Armuchee Baptist Church, and prior to his retirement, was a self-employed master cabinet maker. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served in both the European and Southeastern Pacific Theatres during World War II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jackie Sherman Hicks; brothers, Leonard Hicks, Winford Hicks, and John Hicks.
Mr. Hicks is survived by his wife of 70 years, Edna “Lois” Haney Hicks; sons, Dennis R. (Brenda) Hicks, William Wesley (Debbie) Hicks; brothers, Rowan Hicks, Jered Hicks; grandchildren, Kyle Hicks, Trent Hicks, and Nicole Hicks Reese; great-grandchildren, Reagan Hicks, Ty Hicks, Hollis Reese, and Hayden Reese.
Graveside and interment services for Mr. Hicks will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, December 28, 2017, from the LaFayette City Cemetery with Bro. William Burke officiating. Pallbearers will be Kyle Hicks, Trent Hicks, Mike Hicks, Mark Hicks, Drew Murray, and Jody Collins.
Mr. Hicks will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. until 1:15 P.M. Thursday prior to the service.
