As the week progresses, the weather patterns in Northwest Georgia will be characterized by a mix of sunshine, showers, and thunderstorms. On Monday, the day will start off mostly sunny, with a high temperature reaching near 90 degrees Fahrenheit. However, there is a 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms developing after 1pm, potentially bringing some brief bursts of rainfall and rumbling skies. The winds will remain relatively calm throughout the day, with a light westerly breeze picking up in the afternoon. Transitioning into Monday night, the conditions will become partly cloudy, with temperatures cooling down to a low around 67 degrees, and the winds dying down to a calm state.

The Summerville City Council is set to convene a special called meeting this evening at 5:30 PM. According to the official agenda released by the city just this past Friday, the council members will first go into a closed-door executive session to discuss matters related to pending litigation.  Following the executive session, the city engineer and a panel of subject matter experts will present detailed information to the council regarding PFAS remediation efforts at the Raccoon Creek Water Treatment Plant. Close to 50 football players on the team at Shorter University made decisions for Christ this year before the season started, and 17 followed through with believer’s baptism.

Zach Morrison, in his seventh year as head coach, described what happened after players arrived at the school in early August for preseason training and conditioning camp. “We took them to a couple of local churches,” he said, “and about 150 players visited Life Church.”

This past week the state election board passed a controversial new rule that will require hand counting of ballots on the local level.  The Georgia Attorney General’s Office says that the rule will not stand up in court if challenged because it is not tied to any legislation.  Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger is weighing on the decision.
