A popular smoothie and juice bar in Summerville has announced that they will be closing.  Summerville Nutrition, located at 10523 Commerce Street, announced the decision on social media on Tuesday.  In a post, the owners said, “Unfortunately, after almost four years, we have decided to close due to the economy and rising production costs. Instead of raising our prices further, we feel this is the best decision. Thank you for letting us serve you these past four years; we are very thankful! Don’t be sad that it is ending, be glad that it happened! (Saturday will be the last day) Thank you for everything God be with you all!”.

Summerville Police released a report of a fight between a man and woman last week at the Golden Package Store on Commerce Street.  According to police, a woman pulled up in the parking lot of the liquor store and blocked a man’s vehicle.  The woman then got out and began to verbally harass the man in the car.  The verbal altercation quickly turned into a physical altercation between the two, according to video surveillance from the liquor store’s security cameras.  When police pulled into the parking lot the two stopped fighting.  Forty-two-year-old Jenny Hayes and thirty-eight-year-old La’Rico Crumpton were the two involved in the altercation.  Hayes asked to be transported to the Chattooga County Emergency Room in Trion for minor issues, and warrants were issued for her arrest. Crumpton was charged with disorderly conduct.

A Summerville man fell victim to a social security scam recently.  The complainant came to the Summerville Police Department last week and said that he wanted to report that he had been the victim of a scam regarding his social security.  He told an officer that someone he believed to be with the Social Security Administration (SSA), called and told him that he was owed back money and convinced him to give them his personal information.
