Chronic delays in mail processing and delivery that Georgians have been experiencing for months have cropped up again in connection with federal tax payments. U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff (D-GA), is continuing his quest to force the U.S. Postal Service to answer for continued problems with mail delivery in Georgia.
Be a hero by choosing not to drive after drinking because Georgia law enforcement officers are taking all drunk and drugged drivers they find on the road to jail. Those who choose to pass the keys to a sober designated driver or arrange a ride with a cab or ride-share are saving lives by making the right decision not to risk their lives and the lives of others by operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, drugs or both substances.

Summerville Police were called to the Gyro Car Wash on Highland Avenue in reference to a theft and damage to property. Officers observed that the vacuum cleaners had all been damaged and the change machine had been damaged and burglarized. A worker said that $50 worth of change from a machine in one of the car wash stalls had been stolen. Also there were padlocks that had been cut off. The incident was reported on August 15th.
The Chattooga County M.L.K Commission Committee is inviting the community out to a “FUN DAY” that will be held at the Lyerly Ball Field on Monday, September 2, 2024. The event will get underway at noon. Bring lawn chairs and tents and everyone is invited to attend.

Ashford Lamont Price, 46 of Summerville, is facing numerous charges in Rome after authorities said they found a bag of marijuana hidden in his crotch area after lying during an investigation. Officers said that they took Price into custody after he refused to give them his name and date of birth while being questioned at a location near the intersection of W 11th and N 5th Avenue. After arriving at the jail, Price was found with the marijuana hidden inside a plastic baggie under his crotch. Price is charged with possession of marijuana, obstruction, giving false information to police, crossing the guard line with drugs and probation violation.
