There’s Hope For The Hungry Tomorrow At South Summerville Baptist Church

Those in need of groceries can go by South Summerville Baptist Church tomorrow from 10 AM until 1 PM and get a free box of groceries.  There’s Hope for the Hungry will be distributing the food in the parking lot at South Summerville.  No ID is required, and food must be picked up in person.  There is no charge and no questions asked.  There’s Hope For the Hungry distributes free food throughout North Georgia in collaboration with local churches.  So far this year, 32,429 people that make up 11,100 families have been fed by the ministry.  That also includes 8,986 children and 6,897 senior adults.  Over 225,000 lbs have been given away just in 2024.  If you or someone you know needs some help with groceries, be sure to go by South Summerville Baptist Church tomorrow, Wednesday July 17th.  The church is located on Highway 48 (the Menlo Highway) in Summerville, just past Mason Funeral Home.

Twisted Ankle Race Coming To Sloppy Floyd State Park In September

The annual Twisted ankle Trail Races will be held at Sloppy Floyd State Park on September 7, 2024. Three race distances are offered with a 5K (3.1 miles), a 10 Mile race, and a Half Marathon (13.1 miles) for every level of experience. The race has been held since 2005, with 100% of the proceeds benefiting the Friends of Sloppy Floyd State Park. Georgia Gas Prices Continue To Climb

The Georgia gas price average increased at the pumps compared to a week ago. Georgians are paying an average price of $3.39 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline (subject to change overnight). Monday’s state average was 7 cents more than a week ago,10 cents more than a month ago, and 11 cents more than this time last year. It costs drivers an average price of $50.85 to fill a 15-gallon tank of regular gasoline. Georgians are now paying almost $2.00 more to fill up at the pump compared to a year ago.

Chattooga 4H Peaches Arrive This Afternoon

Chattooga 4-H peaches will be arriving this afternoon.  Chattooga County Extension Agent Rebecca Thomas says that the peaches will be arriving sometime after 1 PM today from Dickey Farms in Musella, Georgia.  Those who pre-ordered peaches will be able to pick them up at the Chattooga County Agricultural Building, located on Middle School Drive off Highway 100 in Summerville.  The annual Chattooga 4-H Peach Fundraiser is one of the largest fundraising events held each year by the local 4-H program.

Summerville Teen Arrested In Cherokee County, Alabama

A Chattooga County teenager was arrested last week in neighboring Cherokee County, Alabama.  Cedar Bluff Police say that eighteen-year-old Jordan Roan of Summerville was wanted on charges of failure to appear on previous driving violation charges.  Roan is also accused of driving with an open container of alcohol.  Roan was arrested on Thursday of last week.
