The parents of a Northwest Georgia girl that has been missing for three years are still hopeful for information about their missing daughter.  There is now a $50,000 reward being offered in the case.

“Sparky The Fire Dog” Visits Local Head Start

“Sparky” the fire dog is a Dalmatian who has been the official mascot of the “National Fire Protection Association”, a United States organization in charge of creating and maintaining minimum standards and requirements for fire prevention, suppression training, and equipment since 1951.  This past week “Sparky” visited with Trion Head Start to talk with kids about fire safety.

At last week’s Summerville City Council meeting, the council voted to raise the garbage fee for City of Summerville residents.  The city contracts with Wright Sanitation in Summerville to collect the garbage.  Also, the city offers free pickup of limbs and debris for Summerville residents.

Catalytic Converters Stolen In Summerville

Summerville Police were called to a Favor Street address this past week after a businessman reported a theft.  When a responding officer arrived on the scene and spoke with the complainant, he told them that he returned to work after being out of town for a few days and found that several of the vehicles he had purchased for resale had been tampered with.  Scott Ballard told the officer that someone had stolen several catalytic converters off the vehicles.  The incident was turned over to an investigator with the Summerville Police Department.  The incident was reported on Wednesday of last week.

Historical Society Meeting This Sunday

The Chattooga County Historical Society will hold its annual picnic meeting at Alpine Community Church at 1:30 this Sunday, October 16th. The church is located at 1115 HW 337, Menlo. The picnic will be in the fellowship hall across the road from the church. The Historical Society will provide drinks, plates, utensils, and plenty of fried chicken.
