Lyerly Students Get A Visit From Chattooga County Election Superintendent

Election time is coming up and Chattooga County voters will be going the polls in November for the General Election.  County Election Superintendent and Probate Judge Gary Woods is reminding voters about important dates regarding the upcoming election (See related story here ), but earlier this week, he was at Lyerly Elementary School speaking to some future Chattooga County Voters.  Judge Woods talked with Mrs. Hegwood and Ms. Jones’ fifth grade social studies class about voting.  Judge Woods said, “I had the honor of speaking to the Lyerly 5th grade Social Studies classes today about voting rights and responsibilities. Great group of kids with wonderful questions. Thank you to Mrs. Hegwood and Ms. Jones for inviting me.”

No New COVID Cases In Chattooga County Over The Past Week

The latest numbers released concerning COVID-19 in Chattooga County show that there were no new cases reported over the past week.  The previous week their were seven cases reported.  Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, there have been 7,399 cases of coronavirus in Chattooga County and 143 deaths.  According to the Georgia Department of Public Health, the state death toll is now at 33,351 people, with another 6,820 probable deaths since the pandemic began.

Woman Never Receives Groceries She Sent After

On Wednesday of this week, Summerville Police responded to a call from a fifty-seven-year-old Summerville woman who said she had paid another person to go to the grocery store for her, and the person never returned with her groceries.

Ringgold Man Convicted Of Child Molestation

On Wednesday, September 21, 2022, Thurman Carl Coleman, a 79 year old man from Ringgold, Georgia was convicted by a Catoosa County jury for the charges of Aggravated Sexual Battery, Aggravated Child Molestation (2 counts), Incest (2 counts), and Child Molestation (5 counts).
