A forty-five-year-old Trion man was arrested shortly before midnight on Tuesday night after he drove through a checkpoint set up by the Summerville Police Department. The checkpoint was located at East Washington Street near the intersection of Penn Street. Police say that a Chrysler Pacifica went through the checkpoint without stopping. Officers ran the tag number and the tag came back to someone who was driving with suspended license. Police arrested Danny Ray Burroughs for driving on suspended or revoked license and no insurance and booked him into the Chattooga County Jail.

A forty-three-year old Summerville woman was arrested on Tuesday for being under the influence of drugs. According to a report from the Summerville Police Department, an officer observed the woman sitting in the old Hardee’s restaurant parking lot. After talking with the woman, she admitted to taking five Klonopin. According to the officer, the woman could barely keep her eyes open. Miranda Jo Nelms was booked into the Chattooga County Jail for public intoxication.
