A pedestrian was struck and killed on Highway 27 between Summerville and Trion on Friday morning – marking the fourth pedestrian fatality in Chattooga County this year.

UPDATE from Sheriff Mark Schrader: This morning at approximately 0705 hours, a pedestrian was struck and killed as he was crossing Hwy 27 near Dot Johnson Drive. The victim was identified as William M. Lee, age 57, of Summerville. The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the accident.
A pedestrian was struck and killed by an oncoming vehicle around 7 AM on Friday morning, according to reports. Chattooga County Sheriff Mark Schrader confirmed that the pedestrian fatality happened in the vicinity of Dot Johnson Drive and Highway 27. The name of the pedestrian was not immediately released by law enforcement, pending notification of next of kin. The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the accident.
