Gordon County Man Shot In Domestic Incident

Floyd County Police say that a Gordon County man was shot in a domestic incident in the Shannon area in northeastern Floyd County.  The incident happened near the Floyd-Bartow County line, east of the Highway 140 – Highway 53 intersection.  Fifty-three-year-old  Raymond G. Johnson Jr. died as a result of the shooting and another unnamed man was injured.  Floyd County Police say that Johnson’s body was taken to the GBI crime lab in Decatur for an autopsy. The specific cause of death for Johnson has not been released. The incident is still under investigation.

Media Release From Sheriff Schrader Concerning Fatality

On Friday, September 16, 2022 at approximately 2 pm, Deputy Villagomez with the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office stopped a white Ford passenger car on Highway 27 in the area of Silver Hill road. The driver was stopped for speeding after being clocked traveling northbound at 83 mph in a 65 mph zone.

Georgia Residents Are Using New Mental Health 988 Hotline

Georgians are using the new national mental health crisis line 988.  According to the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities in the first 45 days, 476 calls resulted in rescues of people whose lives were believed to be in danger.
