Magistrate Court Open For Limited Business

Churches Of Christ Disaster Relief Set Up In Summerville

The area churches of Christ have a disaster relief center set up at the West 5th Street church of Christ building.  The center has  water, food boxes, clothes, bed linens, shovels, rakes, brooms, bleach, box fans, shoes, socks, under garments and more.  The disaster relief center will be distributing from 9 AM until Noon and again from 2 PM until 5 PM starting today, until supplies run out.

Menlo Water Switches To County Supply – Boil Water Still In Place

On Wednesday, the City of Menlo was able to switch water suppliers from the City of Summerville’s water, to water from the Chattooga County Water District.   Menlo Mayor Allan Keen says that the switch was made after county and city crews, along with private citizens and a crew and equipment from Walker County government laid over 1,400 feet of pipe to connect the City of Menlo with the Chattooga County water system.  Menlo City Clerk Jill Neal told WZQZ News on Thursday morning that the boil water notice is still in affect for Menlo Water customers.  The city says that they have sent a sample of water off for testing and will make an announcement about the boil water notice after results are back from that test.

WSB – Caring For Others – Georgia Trucking Association Bringing Supplies To Chattooga County

WSB Television has partnered with law enforcement agencies in Georgia and the nonprofit organization Caring for Others, along wit the Georgia Motor Trucking Association and other nonprofit organizations to organize disaster relief for Chattooga County.  The effort is called “Convoy of Care”.

Trion Rec Opens Doors For Those In Need Of Showers

The Trion Recreation Department has opened its doors for any Chattooga County resident who is without water to have a place to take a shower. Trion Mayor Lanny Thomas told WZQZ News this week that the town is doing all they can to assist the City of Summerville water customers that are without water.

DPH Offering New COVID-19 Booster

The Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH) will begin offering the new bivalent COVID-19 booster this week, as shipments of the vaccine arrive in the state. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) recommend the bivalent booster manufactured by Pfizer for individuals aged 12 and older; and they recommend the bivalent booster by Moderna for adults aged 18 and older.
