An elderly Walker County woman lost her life in a house fire on Independence Day.
James McLowery (Mac) Agnew passed away on July 4, 2022 at his home in Walker County, Georgia. He was born July 8, 1933, the only child of James David Agnew and Bertie Bohannon Agnew. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his wife, Grace McCauley Agnew on July 6, 2001.

Police are investigating a shooting that occurred at a camping facility shortly after midnight Monday morning. Investigation of the incident is still ongoing with all victims expected to survive. The suspect has not been identified at this time.

Georgia gas prices decreased at the pump compared to a week ago. Georgia drivers are now paying an average price of $4.32 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline (subject to change overnight). Monday’s state average was 8 cents less than a week ago, 10 cents more than last month, and $1.41 more than this time last year.
