A forty-one-year-old Chattooga County woman was arrested in Cherokee County, Alabama late last week.

The Georgia State Patrol says an Alabama man lost his life in Georgia on Saturday morning as the result of a motorcycle accident.

The Trion Fire Department is looking for new firefighters to join them who are willing to serve their community. Trion Fire Chief Justin Lowe told WZQZ News, “We are currently accepting applications for a Driver Engineer. Join a department with the options to advance in rank. The Chattooga Chamber of Commerce will hold their monthly meeting for June coming up on Tuesday, June 21 at noon at the historic Summerville Depot in Summerville. Floyd Home Care will speak on services provided to the community and advances in Home health such as their new COPD, Diabetes and CHF programs. Derrick Jeffery Turner, 43, of Winder, GA, is arrested and charged with Computer Invasion of Privacy and Violation of Oath of a Public Officer. On May 18, 2022, the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office asked the GBI to investigate a possible criminal misconduct of Turner, who was employed as a deputy sheriff. It was believed that Turner accessed the personal data of an arrestee without a legitimate law enforcement purpose.

Georgia’s unemployment rate fell to an all-time low of 3.1% last month, well below the national jobless rate of 3.6%, the state Department of Labor reported Thursday, June 16.

Families are invited to the Summer Reading Event at Menlo Elementary School. The event is held each Wednesday’s – June 22, 29 and July 13th. The program last from 8 AM until noon at the Menlo School Media Center. The event is open to the general public and summer camp students.
