Tax Commissioner Has 90 Properties Slated For Sale In July

Chattooga County Tax Commissioner Joy Hampton has started the sale process on 90 properties in the county for unpaid property taxes.  Tax Commissioner Hampton will be holding a sale on the courthouse steps next month if the tax obligations are not met.  At her most recent tax sale, two properties were sold – one on at Cloudland and one off Highway 100 in Summerville.  Hampton says she started with 83 properties for the last sale, but 81 property owners came in and either paid the taxes, or set up payment plans.   In addition to the tax sale next month, the tax commissioner says she will hold one more tax sale this year – in October.
