On June 2, 2022, at about 8 pm, members of the Rome/Floyd County SWAT Team along with Rome Police Department Criminal Investigations Division, GBI, Rome/Floyd Metro Drug Taskforce, and the Bartow County Special Operations Team served a search warrant at 1505 Gordon Ave, the residence of Ms. Debra Lynn Askew. At the conclusion of the search warrant service, the following were arrested at the scene.

This week, the Summerville Police Department released a report about a knife attack on Hawkins Drive in Summerville that took place on May 14th.
An eighty-year-old Walker County Sheriff’s Deputy, assigned to duty at the courthouse, was denied bond this week in his first appearance before a judge in Walker County after he was accused of raping a woman while he was in uniform.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation Region 1 Office in Calhoun is seeking information regarding the murder of a Rome man earlier this month.

The Chattooga Animal Control Shelter will host an adoption drive today, Saturday, June 4. There will be around 14 dogs and around 12 cats available for adoption. The hours for the adoption drive will be 10 AM until 2 PM.
Recess will be required for elementary schools, according to a new law recently signed by Georgia Governor Brian Kemp. HB 1283 requires Georgia’s public schools to offer recess to students in kindergarten through fifth grade every day, except on days when the student has had physical education and other exceptions.
