Local Candidates To Attend Saturday Event

The Chattooga County Republican Party is hosting an event tomorrow at the Chattooga County Civic Center on Highway 48 in Summerville to give the public a chance to meet their candidates.  Several of the candidates for the Chattooga County Board of Education are expected to speak at the event.  Also, there will be representatives from some statewide candidates at the event.  The meet the candidate event will get underway at Noon and the public is invited to attend.  There are a two contested races for the Chattooga County Board of Education in the Republican Primary.  Bonnie Fletcher and Terry Henderson are running to represent the Lyerly District.  There is no Democrat in that race, so the winner of the primary will gain that seat.  Steve Groves and Lori Brady are seeking the Republican nomination to represent the Menlo District on the board of education.  The winner of that contest will face off with incumbent Democrat Lynn Hall in November.

Miss Menlo Pageant Deadline Extended To Today

The deadline to enter the Ms. Menlo Pageant has been extended to the end of the business day today.  The pageant will be held tomorrow, on Saturday March 26th at the Menlo Elementary School Gym at 6 PM.  If you have a student that wants to participate in the pageant, be sure to get your registration in today to the office at Menlo Elementary School.  The event is sponsored by the Menlo PTO.

Armuchee Man Found With Stolen Guns

An Armuchee man is charged with felony theft by taking after law enforcement officers found multiple stolen firearms from Gordon County earlier this month according to Floyd County Police. William Clinton Sanford, 36, is currently in jail in Gordon County. On March 14, Dixie Danielle Sanford, 31, was arrested on the same charge and is also in Gordon County Jail.  The two are suspected of stealing the firearms in the Calhoun area.
