The goal for this month is to create awareness about developmental disabilities, teach the importance of inclusion within every aspect of life and to share the stories of individuals with a disability to show that a successful life is possible.
– Workers pouring concrete footers for new Menlo Elementary School
Construction is underway on a new school building in Menlo. On Tuesday of this week, workers began pouring concrete for the foundation of the new school building which will replace the current school campus. Some of the buildings at Menlo School date back over eighty years.
The Spring Plant Sale at Georgia Northwestern Technical College (GNTC), an annual tradition in Rome, will be held April 11-14.
The 2022 Miss Trion Pageant will be held this Saturday, March 26th at the Trion High School Gym. The event is a fundraiser for the Pride of Trion Band. Young ladies who attend Trion School will be competing in the pageant on Saturday. The event is sponsored by the Trion band Boosters to raise money for the band. There is a $5 admission fee for everyone that attends the event, except for children under the age of five which are free. Concessions will also be sold at the event. WZQZ’s Bonnie Fletcher will be the emcee for this year’s Miss Trion Pageant. For those participating in the pageant, there is a mandatory practice that is taking place on Friday, March 25th at 6 PM.

Mr. Gary Wayne Blackmon, age 59 of Summerville, Georgia passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at an Atlanta Hospital.
On Monday, March 14, 2022, George Anderson, 39 years old, plead guilty to all counts of a 28-count indictment before Hon Ralph Van Pelt, Jr. Anderson was sentenced to a life sentence with the first 25 years to be served in prison. The victim’s mother and stepmother agreed to the plea agreement to keep the victim from having to testify
and relive her night mare.
