Georgia General Assembly Legislative Day 5 Today

The Georgia General Assembly did not use any of its 40 legislative days this past week as the Joint Appropriations Committee met to discuss budgets. While many legislators were present at the Capitol for the hearings, there was a considerable number who attended virtually. The week of budget hearings lasted through Thursday and legislators are set to return today for legislative Day 5.  State Representative Eddie Lumsden, who represents Chattooga County and a portion of Floyd County in the Georgia House issued the following legislative update for the first week of the 2022 Georgia General Assembly:

Chattooga Hybrid Schedule Starts Today

The Chattooga County School District will begin a hybrid schedule today that will have students doing virtual learning on Mondays and Fridays and attending class on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays until February 22, 2022.  Chattooga County Board of Education member Brad Hayes shared the following synopsis of the board of education meeting when the decisions was made to go to the hybrid schedule last Thursday.

There was no doubt that the Trion Bulldog Wrestling team were contenders going into Saturday’s GHSA Class A dual meet championship, but they were facing some very stiff competition agaisnt Mount Pisgah and Social Circle.    Commerce had won six consecutive state duals titles until Trion ended that run two years ago.
