Trion UMC Brunswick Stew January 8th

Trion United Methodist Church will have their Brunswick Stew available Saturday, January 8th.  It is $8 per quart.  It is on a first come first served basis.  You may pick the stew up around 10:30 a.m. through 1:00 p.m.

Also, the Untied Methodist Women will have a Bake Sale beginning around 10:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m.  there will be a selection of cookies, brownies, fried pies, cakes and other sweets.

Criminal Jury Trials Canceled This Week In Chattooga County

Chattooga County Superior Court Judge Kristina Cook Graham announced on Monday morning that criminal jury trials that were scheduled for this week have been canceled.  Potential jurors were scheduled to be at the courthouse at 1 PM Monday afternoon, but they do not need to show up today – nor the rest of the week.

Chattooga Historical Society Meeting Planned

The Chattooga County Historical Society is planning its first meeting of the year for this coming weekend.  The group will meet on Sunday, January 9, 2022 at 2 PM at The Summerville Depot.  Historian Jim Day will be addressing the group and be speaking about life in Chattooga County in 1860.  The Chattooga County Historical Society’s meetings are free and open to the public.

LaFayette Police Arrest Two For Drugs

While patrolling on Thompson Street in LaFayette after dark, a LaFayette Police officer nearly collided with two trucks covering both lanes of the street with no lights on.    One of the drivers explained he was helping push the other truck into a yard, because it didn’t run. Officers noticed a baggy in the rear of one of the truck, which tested positive for methamphetamine. Twenty-three-year-old Avery Jamison Walker was charged with possession of methamphetamine and thirty-three-year-old Daniel Alex Snyder was arrested on a probation violation warrant.
