Last week, Chattooga County received word that Atrium Health Floyd is planning to build a new free-standing emergency room in Chattooga County.  Atrium Health already operates seven free-standing emergency rooms in rural areas in North Carolina, but this will be the first in Georgia for the company.

Former Summerville Mayor Sewell Cash Passes Away

Former longtime Summerville Mayor Sewell Cash passed away on Sunday.

Cash was a veteran of the Korean War and retired from G.E. in Rome. He served as Mayor of Summerville for 20 years, from 1978 to 1997.

Expect Higher Prices For Christmas Trees This Year

The American Christmas Tree Association has warned that supply chain issues and weather problems will mean that trees will be in short supply, so they’re recommending that those hoping to secure a real tree to buy earlier and expect to pay more this year. The association added that artificial trees, as well as live ones, would be likely to cost more this year due to the shortages.
