Trion Woman Arrested At LaFayette Wal-Mart

A Trion woman was arrested last week at Wal-Mart in LaFayette after she was accused of leaving the store with over $278 worth of items that she didn’t pay for.  Reports from the LaFayette Police Department said that twenty-two-year-old Aleigha Faith Young paid for $50 worth of items at the self-checkout, but failed to scan the rest of the items she took from the store.  Young was arrested and taken to the Walker County Jail on shoplifting charges.

Summerville Native Retires As Whitfield County’s School Supt.

Summerville native Judy Gilreath finished her final week as school superintendent of the Whitfield County School System this week, after announcing her retirement back in June.

Accident On Rocky Hollow Road Friday

The Georgia State Patrol is investigating an accident that happened on Rocky Hollow Road on Friday afternoon.  According to reports, the accident was a single-vehicle accident.  The incident happened at a sharp curve, located at 209 Rocky Hollow Road.  A GMC Envoy overturned.  The driver and a passenger received only minor injuries.

COVID Vaccinations In Georgia Are On The Rise

According to the latest numbers from the Georgia Department of Public Health,  55 percent of all Georgians have received at least a dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, while 49 percent have been fully vaccinated.  The latest numbers show that there have been 23,869 confirmed COVID deaths in Georgia since the beginning of the pandemic.  There have been over 83,000 Georgia residents hospitalized from COVID and over 13,000 ended up in ICU. Trion & Chattooga Score Big Wins In Friday Night Football

Big wins for both local teams on Friday night as the Chattooga Indians defeated Dade County with a final score of 28-13 and the Trion Bulldogs win over BEST Academy 38-6.  Chattooga now has a five game winning streak and is 4-0 in Region play.
