The City of Summerville will have their regular August City Council meeting coming up on Monday, August 9th at 5 PM at Summerville City Hall.
Trion Elementary School named their “Staff Member of the Month” for August and this month the honor goes to Jeff “Fro” Wilson. “Fro”, as most people know him, is also a Trion City Councilman and worked for many years for the City of Summerville. In naming “Fro” the “Staff Member of the Month”, Trion Elementary School said, “Thank you Fro, for all the hard work you do for Trion City Schools and always going the extra mile. Congratulations to Jeff “Fro” Wilson, “Staff Member of the Month” for Trion Elementary School.

MRS. EVELYN MAXINE STURDIVANT BENSON – Age 86, of Trion GA was born August 22, 1934 to her late parents Richard Franklin and Anna Lee Cook Sturdivant. She passed away Wednesday, August 4, 2021 with her family at her bedside. She was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church for many years. She was employed at Oakview Nursing Home. She was preceded by her husband, Allen Benson, Jr., three sisters, Marjorie Buckley, Frankie Reese, and Geraldine Hall.

With the beginning of a new school year, the Trion Police Department wants to remind parents about the school release schedule.
The Free Clinic of Rome will hold its one and only fundraiser this (Friday) evening. The Free Clinic of Rome serves uninsured patients in Floyd, Polk and Chattooga Counties.
Summerville Police investigated a reported theft on Northwest Congress Street on Wednesday. A responding officer spoke with the complainant who said that he had left a cooler on the back of his truck. He later observed that the cooler was missing. Along with the cooler being gone, there were prescription pills missing from the cab of the pickup truck. The complainant identified a possible suspect to the responding officer. Summerville Police talked with the suspect who denied the theft. The suspect gave police consent to search and police were unable to locate the cooler or the medications. The theft is still under investigation.
Before last night’s softball game between the Chattooga Lady Indians and the Armuchee Lady Indians, Chattooga High School Principal Dr. Emily Mobbs unveiled the name of the softball field at Chattooga High School.
