A new law that went in place on July 1st in Georgia, updates and reforms Georgia’s adoption laws, streamlining the process while ensuring children and families are safe.
The State of Georgia has given the green light to plans to build a commercial spaceport in southeastern Georgia.
Barwick – LaFayette Airport is a city-owned, public airport in Walker County. Original construction of the airport was funded by ET Barwick Mills, a major carpet manufacturer of the 1960s and 1970s, which operated facilities in and around LaFayette. In the years since, the airport has seen an increase in traffic and serves business and industry in the corner of the state. The City of LaFayette has approve a $3.3 million project to resurface and expand the runway at the airport. $3.15 million of the money will come from the State of Georgia and Federal sources, and the city will kick in $157,500. The City has been working with the Georgia Department of Transportation for about three years on this airport runway project.
The City of Summerville will have a called meeting coming up tomorrow evening at Summerville City Hall. Several items are on the agenda, including a vote on approving a liquor referendum for the city.
WHAT: Weather permitting, crews will continue to repair the roadway at Taylor Ridge on Highway 27. The work will require occasional lane closures Saturday with traffic being led by a pilot car.
WHEN: Saturday, July 10 from 9 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.
WHERE: The southbound lane of Highway 27 at Taylor Ridge will be closed as needed. Traffic will be paced in each direction through the area with a pilot car.

The shop is located at 10101-A Commerce Street, near The Tooga Theater.
