Mrs. Ruth Elizabeth Jackson, age 84, of LaFayette, GA, died Wednesday, May 12, 2021, at Chulio Hills Health and Rehabilitation.
Mr. Franklin “Frankie” E. Roberts, Jr. age 61 of Summerville, GA passed away Friday- May 14, 2021 at a local hospital.

Rubber ducks, classic cars, food galore, crafts, and big hats are a few of the sights to be seen this Saturday during the Downtown Ducky Derby. This free public event is set to run from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. on East Washington Street down to the Summerville Depot.
The North Georgia Cruisers will host a Classic Car Cruise-In on East Washington Street that will extend to include the Historic Couey House. The Cruisers will have concessions on site, with proceeds benefiting their Christmas Outreach program. Classic and custom car and truck owners are invited to display their vehicles for a day of fun and excitement.
Also today, the Trion Fire Department is asking residents to come out and enjoy the first annual “Community Day”, scheduled for Saturday, May 15th from 10 AM until 4 PM at the Trion Track Field.
There will be activities including a children’s fire simulation, fire and safety prevention, face painting and live gospel music.

The Summerville City Council will hold a called meeting on Monday of next week. Local residents will be able to access the meeting remotely, or can attend in person.
Chattooga County Sheriff Mark Schrader says that people need to be on the lookout for a certain kind of “funny money.”
Weather permitting, crews will continue to repair the roadway at Taylor Ridge on Highway 27. The work next week will require a lane closure with traffic being led by a pilot car.
