First-time unemployment claims in Georgia ticked down slightly last week after increasing for two weeks in a row. Jobless Georgians filed 24,700 initial unemployment claims last week, down 274 from the previous week, the state Department of Labor reported Thursday.

The Chattooga County Chamber of Commerce and Summerville Main Street will be hosting a ribbon cutting Saturday morning at the new location for a business on West Washington Street in downtown Summerville.
Floyd is expanding visitation beginning 8 a.m. Monday, March 22. Some restrictions remain in place because of COVID-19 to ensure the safety of patients, staff members and visitors.

Chattooga High School would like to congratulate Gray Beach for being named 2021 STAR Student! To obtain the STAR nomination, high school students must have the highest score on any single test date of the SAT taken through the March test date of their senior year and be in the top 10 percent or top 10 students of their class based on grade point average. Gray picked Ms.Liza Morgan as his STAR Teacher. Congratulations again to both.

WHAT: Weather permitting, crews will continue to repair the roadway at Taylor Ridge on Highway 27. The work next week will require a lane closure with traffic being led by a pilot car.
WHERE: The southbound lane of Highway 27 at Taylor Ridge will be closed. Traffic will be paced in each direction through the area with a pilot car.
