Over four inches of rain fell between Wednesday and Thursday resulting in some minor flooding around Chattooga County. A flood warning remains in place until 1:45 PM this (Friday) afternoon, according to the National Weather Service in Peachtree City, Georgia.
Earlier this month, on March 8th, eight vehicles were stolen from a new car dealership in LaFayette. When the business owners arrived at Jenkins Dodge-Jeep they discovered the stolen vehicles and notified the Walker County Sheriff’s Office.
On Wednesday, officers with the Summerville Police Department searched a vehicle at George’s Quick at the corner of Highland Avenue and Highway 27 and seized drugs, a firearm and a large amount of cash. Two Rome residents and two Summerville residents were charged in connection with incident. Summerville Police released the following statement:
The Town of Lyerly is looking to bring back the annual community-wide Easter Egg hunt this year. Lyerly Mayor Jim Ferguson says that the town council has approved the event and that the town will be reaching out to the churches in Lyerly to help supply filled, plastic Easter eggs for the hunt. The event is expected to be held on Saturday, April 3rd at Angus McCleod Park in Lyerly. The town will be providing hot-dogs and refreshments for the public. The event will get underway at noon.

The Georgia Department of Agriculture and the Vidalia Onion Committee (VOC) today announced that the pack date for the 2021 season is April 19. The organizations are also celebrating the 35th anniversary of legislation that helped to make Vidalia onions beloved by millions of fans across the country.
