Georgia Power Customers To See Reduction In October Bills

Georgia Power today announced that the typical residential customer using 1,000-kilowatt hours will receive an estimated $12 credit on their October Georgia Power bill. This reflects implementation of a one-time $61.6 million credit for customers, approved today by the Georgia Public Service Commission (PSC), as a result of Georgia Power’s 2019 financial results.

Chattooga County  4-H is offering a “Virtual Study Hub” for students on “Virtual Mondays”.  The study hub will is open for any Chattooga County School student from 5th – 12th Grade.  The cost is only $15 and will cover  lunch, snack, insurance, cleaning supplies, and activities.

CRC Chattooga is a volunteer based non-profit helping to put free groceries on the tables of those in need in Chattooga County.  The Community Resource Center food bank now has new distribution hours. If you need food,  you can pick up a free food box between 12 PM – 4 PM, Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Georgia Gas Prices Increase Over The Past Week

Georgia gas prices increased at the pump compared to a week ago. Georgia motorists are now paying an average price of $2.04 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline. Monday’s state average is 5 cents more than a week ago, 5 cents more than last month, and 36 cents less than this time last year.

Chattooga School Supt. Releases Message About Progress Reports

Chattooga County School Superintendent Jared Hosmer has released an update to the public on Monday concerning adjustments at Chattooga County Schools due to COVID-19.  One of those adjustments is that students will not receive a 4 1/2 week progress report for the first 9 week grading term.  Students will receive a report card at the end of 9 weeks.  Hosmer is urging parents to contact their student’s teachers if you would like information regarding the progress your student is making.  Next Monday is Labor Day.  After that, students in the Chattooga County school system will switch to a four-day, in-class school week.  Monday’s will be reserved for virtual learning.  See Supt. Staff At Oakview Stepping Up During COVID Outbreak

News came over the weekend that Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation in Summerville had reported their first death from COVID-19.  The nursing facility has seen a dramatic spike in the number of patients and staff members testing positive for coronavirus over the past couple of weeks.
