Chattooga County Probate Judge Jon Payne signed an order yesterday appointing long-time Chattooga County Probate Court employee Becky Duke as Associate Probate Judge of Chattooga County. The order will allow Mrs. Duke to fulfill the obligations of the Probate Judge while Judge Payne is hospitalized.
State Court Judge Jon Dennis administered the oath of office to Mrs. Duke this morning at the Chattooga County Courthouse.
Judge Payne is currently in ICU in a Rome hospital after contracting COVID-19.
