Summerville Police responded to a report about a stolen humidifier late last week. According to the report that was released on Friday, a resident at Saratoga Way Apartments told police that they believed someone forced their way into their apartment and stole a humidifier valued at $30. The resident also said that the person that entered the apartment got some meat out of the freezer and left it thawing in the kitchen. The incident was referred to an investigator.

Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and the risks of spreading the disease associated with large group events, Georgia River Network has cancelled Paddle Georgia, its annual week-long canoe/kayak river adventure and is encouraging supporters to “create their own trip to support Georgia’s rivers.”
The Georgia Department of Public Health(DPH) is increasing its workforce to expand contact tracing for COVID-19 in Georgia. Contact tracing is used to identify and mitigate hot spots of infection to help prevent further spread of the virus.
Authorities identified the two women whose bodies were discovered last Wednesday off the bypass at the Etowah River Bridge in Floyd County, Georgia. Deputy Floyd County Coroner Connie Chandler identified the women as 19-year old Vanita Richardson and 30-year old Clarice Truvenia Campbell – both of Rome.
An updated scheduling order was issued this week in a RICO case filed against several former Floyd County school system employees accused of stealing over $6 million, including Chattooga County resident Derry Richardson, along with several of Richardson’s family members.
