MR. ROY ELLIOTT “PETE” HUGGINS, age 34, of Summerville, Georgia passed away Tuesday evening, December 8, 2020, in a Rome hospital from injuries received in an auto accident, earlier Tuesday. Born in Floyd County, Georgia on December 8, 1986, a son of the late Elliott Jude Huggins and Debra Marlene Durham Smith, who survives. Mr. Huggins was employed by Chattanooga Wilbert Vault Company.
MS. SHIRLEY STRICKLIN WILLINGHAM journeyed across the River Jordan to her Heavenly Home, where she joined her parents, Sam and Francis Stricklin, brothers and sister, Grant Stricklin, Molly Ragan, Sammy Stricklin, Jimmy Stricklin, Sr., and infant William D. Stricklin; the father of her children, John Ed Willingham, daughter-in-law, Patti Thompson Willingham, and long time companion, Ray Hall.

The Georgia DOT (GDOT) has posted a proposed plan for public input about a new bypass for Summerville that will include 3 roundabouts. The bypass would run from Highway 48 near Hunt St. to Highway 27 just west of the Chattooga River Crossing, near Wildlife lake Rd, and would include a bridge over Town Branch.
