The Chattooga County 4-H is in need of donations: each year at Christmas, the 4-H students go to Oakview Nursing Home and host a “Country Store”, where residents can come up and pick out gifts for their families and friends at no cost to them.

The 4-H office is in need of donations of skid-free socks, stuffed animals, puzzles, puzzle books, sports team hats and shirts, baby doll clothes, blankets, and anything these that Oakview residents would enjoy.

Do note that the 4-H office will have to politely refuse donations that are edible or look like food.

Donations can be dropped off at the Extension Office any time until December 12.

Children of all ages are invited to enjoy the City of Summerville’s annual Christmas In The Park. Dowdy Park will come to life on Thursday, December 6, 2018, as holiday cheer is offered free to the public from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Santa will arrive at the Summerville Depot at 6:00 p.m. to visit and offer free photos with children. Children’s door prizes will be given away every ten minutes while families are waiting to visit Santa inside the depot.

A homeless 61 year-old Rome man, Ephron Ezekial Nelson, was jailed near Barnes and Noble after he allegedly grabbed a pair of scissors, pointed them at two medical personnel and said “I will kill you mother****rs”.

Nelson is charged with two counts aggravated assault, two counts terroristic threats and acts, interference with medical professionals and disorderly conduct.

Six people, Stacey Mitchell Gardner, 51 of Silver Creek, Brian Eugene Walters, 33 of Silver Creek, Regina Sheryl Brock, 50 of Silver Creek,  Catherine Marie Reed, 44, of Summerville, Robert Derek Brock, 28 of Silver Creek, Charles Clinton Lumpkin, 61 of Silver Creek, were arrested at a home on Rockmart Highway on numerous drug, weapon, and fraud charges following the execution of a search warrant by the Metro Drug Task Force.

Reports said that police found methamphetamine, marijuana, digital scales and a gun.

The .22 caliber revolver was found in the car port.

While at the jail deputies said they found marijuana on Walters.

Gardner was also wanted for allegedly illegally using another’s bank card to get $110 back on October 22 at the Market on 2^nd.

Gardner is charged with financial transaction card fraud, possession of meth, possession of marijuana, possession of drug related objects, and probation violation.

Walters is charged with possession of meth, possession of marijuana, possession of drug related objects, crossing a guard line with drugs.

Both Brocks and Reed are both charged with possession of meth, marijuana and drug related objects.

Lumpkin, the home owner, is charged with possession of meth, possession of marijuana, possession of drug related objects and possession of a gun by a convicted felon.
