Trion Maintenance Supervisor Resigns

Trion Maintenance Department Supervisor Eddy Willingham turned in his resignation on Tuesday.

Willingham has been working for the town for six years.

Willingham said he will work out a two-week notice, in part assisting interim supervisor Brandon Croy.
The town council has the final say in who will fill the job long term.

LMS, SMS Lead County Schools in with Huge Leap in CCRPI Scores

On Monday, the Georgia Department of Education released its annual College and Career Ready Performance Index, Georgia’s primary accountability metric for its primary and secondary schools. Every system school made appreciable progress, and large leaps in particular were made by Lyerly and Summerville Middle Schools.
WZQZ will have reports on Trion City Schools’ recent CCRPI improvements in newscasts later this week.

Trion High School’s TSA Attend Technology Day

On October 8th, Trion High School’s TSA club (Technology Student Association) traveled to take part in Technology Day, which was held in Perry, Georgia. Tech Day is an all-day Georgia TSA conference that took place during the Georgia National Fair. There were eleven competitions to choose from that students could compete in. The goal was to get prospective students more interested in engineering activities. There was also a rally beforehand to get the students excited to go compete in the competitions they had prepared.

Trion High School Cheerleaders Donate to Ronald McDonald House

The Trion High School Cheerleaders traveled to Chattanooga, Tennessee to visit the Ronald McDonald House. The Ronald McDonald Foundation is for families with sick children currently in hospital care. Families who cannot afford to stay in hotels can spend this time at the house. This Ronald McDonald house can currently house 28 families.

Trion High School’s Lady Dogs Softball Place Third At State

The 2018 season for the Lady Dogs came to a close last Saturday as they were defeated by the Gordon Lee Trojans and the Bowdon Red Devils in the Final Four Round of the  State Championship. These games remained competitive throughout, and the Varsity Girls never lost faith in their team.

Trion High School’s Marching Band Attends Peach State Competition

On Saturday, October 27th, the Pride of Trion Marching Band attended the 45th annual Peach State Marching Competition and Festival at Barron Stadium in Rome, Georgia. Fifteen other bands attended the festival. The Pride of Trion had a wonderful time meeting new people and watching new shows.
