Summerville resident Robert Hensen reported a theft last Friday to the Chattooga County sheriff’s office.

Hensen told a reporting deputy that a mailbox and several pieces of aluminum trailer siding had been stolen from a Mustang Drive property that Hensen is in the process of purchasing.

The investigation into the theft is ongoing.

A Chattooga County Sheriff’s corporal took a report this week from a Lyerly man who said the catalytic converter had been stolen from his pickup truck.

The complainant told the corporal that when he returned home around 7 PM, he went to move his 2010 GMC Sierra Z71 pickup from the end of his driveway and noticed that the exhaust was loud. After looking under it, he saw the catalytic converter had been taken.

The complainant’s neighbor said that he and his wife saw a minivan in the complainant’s driveway and someone under the pickup truck earlier that day around noon.

The incident is currently under investigation by the sheriff’s department.

A 32-year old Trion woman is lodged in the Floyd County Jail on charges of possession of methamphetamine, crossing the guard line with drugs and misdemeanor obstruction of officers.

Kimberly Nicole Weathers allegedly resisted staff while being searched at the jail and admitted to placing meth in a trash can located inside the booking area.

Weathers is also being held for Chattooga County authorities on unspecified charges, according to jail records.
