VP Pence to Stump for Kemp in Dalton Next Week

Brian Kemp,Georgia’s Republican nominee for governor, announced on Twitter Thursday that Vice President Mike Pence will be at a pro-Kemp event at Dalton’s town convention center next Thursday at 11:30 AM.

Mr. Kemp announced that Pence will also appear at his Grovestown and Savannah rallies.

The Dalton Convention Center is located at 2211 Dug Gap Battle Rd., Dalton, GA 30720.

Forgery Reported to Sheriff’s Office

According to records released today by the county sheriff’s office, county man Raymond Gardner Jones Jr. reported last Friday that his signature had been forged.

Mr. Jones filed a report at the sheriff’s office stating that someone had written several unauthorized checks to his account, adding that the account is jointly account held with his mother. According to the report, the forgery incident(s) occurred on or after June 30th of this year.

Jones stated that the checks were written while he was incarcerated. The case is currently active and has been turned over to the county investigator.

Dirt Bikes Stolen from Little Sand Mountain Home

County resident Teresa Vaughan contacted the Chattooga County Sheriff’s office on Monday to report that dirt bikes had been stolen from a house she was moving out of.

Vaughan told a responding sheriff’s deputy that she had went to her former home on Bill Mitchell Rd. in the Little Sand Mountain area to retrieve some of her property.

Vaughan noticed that three dirt bikes were missing from the property, adding that she had seen them last two weeks prior to the report. Vaughan said that one of the bikes is a black Yamaha 70, and though she could not recall the make of the other two bikes, she added that one is a 100 model and the other a 90.

Vaughan listed one male as a possible suspect. The incident is under investigation by the county sheriff’s department.
