Trion Council Work Session this Evening

The Trion Town council will hold its regularly scheduled third Thursday work session and a called meeting this evening at 6 PM. It will be held at Town Hall.

The purpose of the called meeting will be to discuss replacing and/or repairing old town police vehicles.  The regular work session will take place after the called meeting.

WZQZ will have a reporter present to bring you highlights from the session in upcoming posts and newscasts.

Salmonella Strain Hits East Coast, Resisting the Usual Cast of Antibiotics

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported Wednesday that an antibiotic-resistant strain of salmonella from raw chicken has made 92 people sick across 29 states.

Power Restored to 99% of GA Power Customers Hit by Hurricane Michael

Georgia Power has restored power to 99 percent, or more than 385,000 customers, impacted by Hurricane Michael.More than 5,800 personnel were mobilized as part of the company’s restoration effort, including all of Georgia Power’s resources, as well as assistance from other Southern Company operating companies and more than a dozen assisting utilities from as far away as Illinois, New York, Pennsylvania and Texas. While work is nearly complete, all personnel in the field remain focused on reconnecting those customers who remain without power in the hardest hit areas of Southwest Georgia.

CHS Lady Indians Will Play Round Two of Softball State Playoffs Today

The Chattooga Lady Indians Softball team will travel to Social Circle, Georgia today to play in the second round of the GHSA State Softball Playoffs. The Indians made CHS History last week by hosting and defeating Therrell from Atlanta in round one. The Lady Indians will face off against the Social Circle Redskins at 5pm and again at 7pm this evening. CHS Head softball coach Jeff Bennett stated, “I am very proud of the team for making it to the second round. We have made CHS History and we hope to bring home a win.
