Dutch ovens have been in use for hundreds of years; especially when our country was expanding and families were on the move. Unable to bring their large cook stoves with them, women learned how to cook entire meals from stews and soups to bread and desserts, in their Dutch ovens. Learn the basics about Dutch ovens, how to clean and care for your cookware, and cook (& eat!) dinner and dessert at the same time!
The Summerville Recreation Department registration for Baseball, Softball and T-Ball continues through Thursday, February 28. The age control datefor Baseball, Tot-Ball and T-Ball is May 1. The age control date for Softball is September 1,2019.
The Chattooga High School chapter of HOSA – Future Health Professionals, is hosting ”Ties and Tiaras” Father Daughter Dance to be held Saturday March 2 from 6-8 pm at the Civic Center. The money raised will help students compete at the state level. The HOSA students are raising money to compete at the state level and the dance is the biggest fundraiser. Find details below:
Georgia Northwestern Technical College (GNTC) is offering a free GED® practice test on Thursday, February 28th, to all current or potential students who come into one of the local Adult Education Learning Centers in GNTC’s nine-county service area.
The Chattooga County FFA has announced a meeting coming up for any students that are interested in showing goats. The meeting will be held next Thursday, February 21st at the Chattooga High School Ag room. The meeting will take place at 5 PM and the parents or guardians of the students wanting to show goats must attend the meeting.
The Chattooga and Trion Retired Educators will meet on Thursday, February 21 at Sweet P’s in Trion. Lunch will begin at 11:30 a.m. and the meeting at noon. Jason Taylor, a representative of Modern Woodmen of America, will present the program. All retired educators are invited for a time of food, fellowship, and learning.
