As a reminder, the Trion Town Council will not be meeting this week (that is, the week of November 18-24).

Though the council normally meets for its regular session on the fourth Thursday of each month, it voted at October’s meeting to move November’s regular session to Tuesday, November 27th, to accommodate for the week of Thanksgiving and Black Friday.

It will still be held at 6 PM at Town Hall. WZQZ will have a reporter present on the November 27th meeting to report on the highlights in subsequent newscasts and online posts.

Dr. Phil Williams, Superintendent of  Trion City Schools has announced that Trion Schools will dismiss early on Friday, November 16th in order for students, staff, and families to have time to travel to the football playoff game in Schley County.

The newly-elected memebers of the Chattooga County Board of Education will be sworn in at the Board Meeting in January.

The meeting will be held on January 17th, 2019 at the Chattooga County Education Center, located at 206 Penn Street, Summerville, GA 30747.

The new board-members are Brad Hayes, Julia Houston, and Sammy Ballard. They are replacing outgoing board-members Alma Lewis, Larry Weesner, and Eddie Massey, respectively.

Friends of the Lafayette-Walker Library will sponsor “Cocoa with Santa” on Tuesday, November 27th.

Kids can have pictures made with Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus while enjoying cookies, candy canes, and cocoa, all from 4-6 PM.

The event is $5, and all proceeds will benefit the public library. Be sure to bring your camera.

The City of Summerville’s “Trains, Live Demonstrations & Interactive Family Fun” will conclude “Steam Into Summerville Railroad Days” today. Hosted by Summerville Main Street, the Trains & Tracks Expo will be at the Historic Summerville Depot  from 11:00am-3:00pm.Admission is free to the public.

The expo is a great way to spend the day whether you’re an avid modeler or just looking for a fun and interesting day out with the family. The Trains & Tracks Expo is designed for children of all ages; for modelers, collectors, and enthusiasts; for families in search of good old-fashioned fun; and for the simply curious.
