Local Scouts will be having a food collection event this coming Saturday in Summerville. Pack 38, Troop 7B, and Troop 7G will be collecting non perishable items thru a Drive Thru Collection site on Saturday Feb 10 from 10 AM until Noon on Ralph Stanley Drive between the Scout Hut and the Tennis Courts. The food collected will be donated to the Community Resource Center of Chattooga County. You can see a list of the most-needed items below:
The SongFarmers of Summerville will be meeting this Saturday, February 10, 2024 from 1 PM until 4 PM at the Fairway Recreation Center on Senior Drive in Summerville. The free event will feature old-fashioned “front-porch pickin’ “. Musicians are invited to bring their instrument and join in and audience participation is always encouraged. Reita’s Fried Pies will be on hand and there will be homemade ice cream, Brunswick stew and chili. Everyone is invited to attend.
The Chattooga County Young Farmers are hosting a dairy show at the Chattooga County Ag Center on Saturday, February 3rd. The show starts at 10 AM. Chattooga 4H will be selling concessions at the dairy show. A cow patty bingo will be held to benefit the Chattooga County FFA Dairy Show Team. The team is raising money to purchase washing stations. The cost for the cow patty bingo is $10 per square. First place prize is $100 and second place is $50. Center Post Community Center will host a free music night on Saturday January 20, 2024 beginning at 6 PM. Local talent, Laney Rayburn and Mason Thompson will be performing on stage. Concessions will be available for purchase. Everyone is welcome to attend. Center Post Community Center is located at 8125 HWY 337 LaFayette, GA.
The Chattooga County Extension Office will be conducting a cooking class, beginning in the month of February, to learn how to manage diabetes and other chronic diseases through meal preparation. The Saturday classes will be held from Noon until 1:30 PM starting February 6th and going through March 5th. The classes are $15 each and you can register of find out more information by calling the Chattooga County Extension Office at 706-857-0744.
Registration for Tee Ball, Baseball and Softball is now open at the Summerville Recreation Department. The program is for children ages 3 to 12. The age control date is prior to September 1, 2024. You can now sign up in-person or online. To sign up online go to www.summervillerec.org or you can scan the QR code above. Registration is open through Sunday, February 11, 2024.
