Lyerly Announces “Trunk or Treat” Plans

The Town of Lyery has announced their annual “Trunk or Treat” event.  This year, it will be held the day AFTER Halloween, Friday November 1, 2019.  It will take place from 6:30 PM – 10 PM and children can enjoy trunk or treat, free hot-dogs and hayrides.  The event will be held at Angus Mcleod Park.  If you have questions, you can e-mail the Lyerly Town Clerk at lyerlyclerk@gmail.com

Information About Hayrides At Sloppy Floyd State Park

With the possibility of rain in the forecast for this weekend, the Friends of Sloppy Floyd State Park say that it could affect the hayrides scheduled for Saturday.  In the event of rain, the hayride for Saturday will be rescheduled for Sunday from noon until 5 PM.  If you have questions, contact Ann Crim at 678-378-3795.

Pumpkin Palooza At The Depot Saturday

Everything’s Coming Up Pumpkins At The Pumpkin Palooza! Build a pumpkin racer and compete in the Pumpkin Derby,to be held on East Washington Street at 1:30 PM There will be plenty of pumpkins in all forms and lots of fun activities. Walker County Historical Society Meeting

The October monthly meeting of the Walker County Historical Society will be held on Sunday, October 27, 3:00 pm, at the Welcome Center, 309 N. Main St., La Fayette, GA.  The topic will be: “Recent acquisitions—papers and objects at the Marsh House” to share some exciting finds of Marsh family and La Fayette area history and heritage by the Marsh House history committee and the curator/furnishings committee.   The public is invited and local people are encouraged to come to help identify workers in photographs of cotton mill employees in the 1920s. Membership in the Society is $12.00/year.
