A twenty-seven-year-old metro Atlanta man was arrested in Northwest Georgia this week after officials say he had sexual conversations online with someone he believed to be under the age of sixteen.

Chattooga County Sheriffs Deputies have taken out warrants after observing a man dumping contents from a white plastic bucket into a ditch at the intersection of Highway 114 and Foster Street. Deputies said that a man in a wheelchair was observed dumping something into the ditch and then leaving the scene. After further investigation, deputies found that the man had dumped a bucket containing human waste and toilet paper into the ditch. Deputies observed other trash in the ditch, along with around a span of about 25 feet where there was toilet paper and waste, indicating the illegal dumping was an ongoing issue. Warrants were being sought for Tony Lee Edgeworth in connection with the illegal dumping.

State Rep. Eddie Lumsden has released his weekly legislative report for the second week of the 2024 Georgia General Assembly session. Lumsden says that the House is currently working on two budget bills. Legislators are considering state agencies’ funding requests and once the bills are approved by the House Appropriations Committee, they will go up for a vote in the House before being sent to the Georgia State Senate. Chattooga County Sheriff Mark Schrader announced his bid for reelection on Tuesday. Schrader was first elected sheriff in 2012 when he defeated incumbent Sheriff John Everett in the Democratic Primary.

A nineteen-year-old driver was clocked speeding 75 in a 55 mph speed zone on Friday of last week. A deputy sitting stationary at Stoleman Road, initiated a traffic stop near Halls Valley Road on Highway 27 and while speaking with the driver, noticed the smell of marijuana. The driver admitted to having marijuana inside the vehicle. Deputies found a bag containing around a half-ounce of pot. Emily Clifton was charged with DUI for drugs and speeding and was booked into the Chattooga County Jail.
The Chattooga County Water District says that a tank at Cloudland is losing water and they are turning valves off, trying to isolate the problems. Chattooga County Water District customers at Cloudland may experience no water pressure, or low pressure while they find and repair the problem. The water district told WZQZ News that they don’t expect the water to be out for a long period of time.
